The CAIT addresses the big bosses of companies and commercial organizations for a joint forum against foreign players in electronic commerce
New Delhi, September 29 (KNN) The Confederation of All Indian Traders (CAIT) today contacted companies from different verticals of retail and industry to establish a joint forum against e-commerce.
Among the prominent names to which CAIT has written include Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, Swami Ramdev, Harsh Goenka, Kumar Manglani Birla, Gautam Adani and others.
The main organizations include Swadeshi Jagran Manch, All India Grahak Panchayat, All India Transport Welfare Association, Laghu Udyog Bharti, FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM, PHD Chamber, etc.
In a communication sent to renowned industrialists and organizations, CAIT called for the formation of a larger joint forum to combat unfair and unhealthy business practices, violation of the law, the law and the rules. and the creation of a monopoly e-commerce market by e-commerce companies financed by foreign capital. .
BC Bhartia, National President and General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal of CAIT, in their communication, accused these companies of adopting, making large discounts, financing losses, excluding preferential sellers and owing inventory, this which is strictly prohibited by FDI Policy Press Note 2, 2018.
They said that if e-commerce and retail were captivated by these global companies, it would greatly affect Indian manufacturers and producers as well.
These business practices hamper small businesses due to an unequal playing field and thus escape competition, and create a monopoly e-commerce market that is never in the general interest of the economy and the country. This is certainly not the case with foreign investment but purely of a money-burning model which is an unhealthy and unfair business practice.
Bhartia & Khandelwal said that with great persuasion from the government and emphasizing the need for e-commerce rules in the country, the Consumer Department has proposed several e-commerce rules under the Law on the protection of consumers who have not yet been notified.
These rules should apply to all types of business entities, of foreign or Indian origin, which sell goods or provide services through any digital means. We believe that the proposed rules are in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” vision.
Business leaders, while seeking cooperation from industry leaders and associations, insisted on the need to cement a greater forum of all India’s retail forces and as such have asked for their involvement and support against the fight for justice and also convinced the government to apply the proposals for e-commerce rules, the establishment of an e-commerce policy and the issuance of a new Press Note in place of Press Note n ° 2 of the IDE policy after removing any disparities, loopholes or loopholes.
